Brazil legend Ronaldo Picks His All-time Greatest Eleven, Bizarrely Omitting Cristiano Ronaldo
Brazilian legend Ronaldo has picked his dream team this week, but made a surprising snub on his Portuguese namesake Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite winning the Champions League and the coveted Ballon d’Or four times each, the Real Madrid talisman gets no love from the former Real Madrid attacker, who even picks himself to play up front with Pele.
Ronaldo kept his attack all South American with fierce rivals Argentina represented by Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi.
Unlike Maradona, Messi has never won the World Cup, with the current side on the brink of missing next summer’s finals in Russia.
The retired striker, named European Footballer of the year in 1997 and 2002, opted for a 4-2-4 formation to pack in as much attacking prowess as possible.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s current boss and World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane, who played with the striker at the Bernabeu during the ‘Galactico’ era makes the cut in midfield alongside the stylish Italian playmaker Andrea Pirlo.
In defence, Ronaldo went with his former international team-mates Cafu and Roberto Carlos in the full-back positions.
AC Milan legend Paulo Maldini and Fabio Cannavaro are the two centre-backs.
And world most espensive goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon was picked in goal.
Cristiano will not be all too worried with his name omitted in his namesake list as he is focused on securing world cup qualification for Portugal.
