Amber Rose Hosts 3rd Edition Of The SlutWalk In Los Angeles

Amber Rose brings back her controversially named SlutWalk event today in downtown Los Angeles. The walk invites men and women alike to move in unison and take a stand against rape culture and slut shaming, a topic that has been in the forefront of tabloid news recently. Rose will be acting as host for this year’s event, the third edition in as many years, with special guests Blac Chyna and Just Brittany reportedly joining her during the festivities, according to TMZ.

Both Chyna and Brittany have had their respective brushes with slut shaming in recent months: the former through her ongoing saga with ex Rob Kardashian following his revenge porn-tinged outburst on social media back in the summertime that led to their split, while the latter came under fire online with criticism after she accused her rapper BF Z-Ro of domestic abuse. Lest we forget, Amber Rose has also been at the fore when it comes to the larger conversation of rape and/or slut shaming culture, famously warring with British television personality Piers Morgan over a NSFW picture that she shared online with her fans. Whatever you may think of Rose and her alleged attention-seeking tactics at times, the cause she stands for today is one that is more important than ever before, especially within the confines of hip-hop culture.

There’s talk that Amber Rose will be bringing back some of the highlights from last year’s SlutWalk, including her “Wall of No Shame.”

There were also all of the stripper poles and other such accessories that participants can partake in should they choose to, so in all likelihood, there’s probably something for everyone who’s thinking of going down and joining in on the fun. Where Rose goes from here with the event is uncertain, although the response continues to grow with each passing year. Perhaps her new beau, 21 Savage, could lend his voice to the cause at some point down the road, which would help raise the profile of the SlutWalk and reinforce the values it stands for to another audience entirely.
