The £35million Brazil international Ederson joined from Benfica this summer but could now face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

After a lengthy stoppage for treatment, he was taken off on a stretcher and City were forced to bring on former Barcelona stopper Claudio Bravo with five minutes of the first half remaining.

The keeper was not taken to hospital, instead he was checked for fractures at City’s medical institute but was later cleared.
