Butcher Docked For Stabbing Colleague In Ekiti

A 25-year-old butcher, Ibrahim Alausa, has appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for alleged assault.

 

Alausa, whose address was not given, is facing a one count charge of assault.

 

The prosecutor, Insp. Johnson Okunade, told the court that the accused committed the offence on September 4 around 11:00 a.m. at Sabo Market in Ado-Ekiti.

 

He said the accused stabbed the complainant, Mr. Habib Laidi, in his left hand with knife during a fight. Okunade said the offence contravened Section 338 (1) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2012 and punishable under same.

 

He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble his witnesses. Counsel to the accused, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Abegunde, urged the court to grant his client bail, saying he would not jump bail.

 

Magistrate Modupe Afeniforo granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties, according to the magistrate, must have a residential building.

 

Afeniforo also ordered that both parties should maintain peace. She adjourned the case till September 29 for hearing.
