Photos: Police Foil Bank Robbery In Kano, Arrest Two Suspects, Recovers Weapons, Vehicles

The Kano State Police Command said they have foiled an attempted bank robbery and arrested two armed suspects.

The robbers were said to have stormed one of the new generation banks in the capital around 11am on Thursday, August 17, but police operatives were there to engage them in a gun duel.

The spokesperson of the command,  DSP Magaji Musa Majia, who confirmed the incident said that investigation revealed that the armed robbers were five in number and had arrived from Ebonyi State on Monday 14th August, 2017.

“They had earlier attacked and robbed a Hotel inside Sabongari where they shot dead a security guard of the hotel during the operation. The 2 fatally injured suspects arrested confessed to have arrived the State solely to commit armed robbery and go back to Ebonyi State where they are based,” Majia said.

“During search of their Hotel Room, one (1) more AK 47 magazine loaded with 27 rounds of live ammunition was also recovered and added to 1 AK 47 rifle, 4 live ammunition and 2 of their operational vehicles, Toyota Previa red in colour and Honda Academy ash in colour earlier recovered. Investigation is on its peak to arrest the fleeing members of the syndicate and recover thir operational weapons.”
