Marital Problems Only Arise When The Roles Are Reversed – Edozie David Onochie

It will shock you to know that most “potential husbands” actually have the marital mindset of marrying a girl from a rich home oneday, or to marry a lady that will always assist them financially. What an error!

I have taken my time to read and study various books on marriage. I have devoted my time to study God’s purpose and view of marriage from the Bible. After all, you don’t need to be married before you prepare for marriage.

The conclusion of the whole matter is this: Marital problems only arise when the roles are reversed. Responsibilities define us, and validates our calling.

As a man, the day you decide to take the role of a woman, you automatically lose your stand as the man of the house.

No matter how the society tries to justify a man’s negligence to his “provision responsibilities”, it still does not change the fact that by default, God’s original plan for a man is for him to provide for his family.

1 Tim 5:8~
For if any man hath no care of his own, and mostly of his household members, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an unfaithful man [and is worse than an unfaithful, or heathen man].

Also in this stance, men have been commanded to love their wives passionately as a decision not a feeling.

Ephesians 5:25(Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her).

For the women:

The day you decide to become the man of the house and stop submitting, respecting, and honoring your husband because of societal “madness”, that’s the day you officially lost your place as a wife/woman.

Ephesians 5:22( Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior).

Men, even if your wife earns more than you, don’t use that as a yard stick to become lazy or gloat over it.

Use Wisdom, Love, and sweet words with her. Devise a means where you both bring your resources together for the common good of your family. If possible, when giving the children money for their fees and other vital needs, let the man’s hand be the hand giving out the money(Very important). Let’s lay good foundation for our children.

Let everyone know their place and their responsibilities to avoid marital crises.

Don’t wait to be married before preparing for marriage. Enough is Enough! Let’s build our homes with Love and understanding of responsibilities.
