Man Mauled By Beer After He Teased It With Food

Yesterday, a man was mauled to within an inch of his life by an enormous hungry bear in Thailand.

Naiphum Promratee, 36, allegedly teased the beast by dangling food above its jaws so the animal attacked him. He was reportedly seen holding a bowl of rice above the huge bear before it suddenly snatched him into its enclosure. The bear bit him until he bled and despite efforts by his friends to shoo the animal away it did not relent.

Friends can be seen in the video poking the bear with a stick and pouring water on it but it held on to the man with its teeth and dragged him with it as the victim cried. It is reported that the animal knocked him unconscious before his friends were finally able to save him.

Naiphum had been with four friends when he decided to visit the temple in rural Phetchabun province, Thailand. The monks resident in the temple keep around two dozen wild boars in a small enclosure and a bear in a cage which they care for and allow guests to feed.

Naiphum – responding to an appeal for food donations for the animals – arrived and leaned against a surrounding wall while reaching into the enclosure to feed the bear by dangling bowls of rice from the end of a rope, Mirror reports. But the angry bear stood on its legs and grabbed Naiphum, dragging him into the enclosure, knocking him unconscious before tearing a lump from his armpit.

As the bear prepared to feast on its prey, one of the group ran into the enclosure and battered the bear in its cage with a pole while friends rescued Naiphum. Emergency services arrived just after 11 a.m. local time. Naiphum was rushed to hospital where he is now recovering and able to talk.
