Brave five-year-old takes police to the house of HIV positive man who raped her
A five-year-old girl helped police nab her alleged rapist after leading them directly to the suspect’s house in Mitchells Plain‚ Cape Town, South Africa.
Cape Town law enforcement spokesperson Wayne Dayson confirmed that officers on duty were alerted by members of the community about the incident.
The little girl was taken to SAPS in Mitchells Plain and told officers that she knew who the suspect was and where he lived.
“Law enforcement officers attached to the Transport Enforcement Unit were on duty on Sunday in the Mitchells Plain area when they were alerted by members of the public to the rape of a little girl.”
“The officers took the victim to SAPS in Mitchells Plain‚ where the brave young girl informed the officers she knew the suspect and showed the officers where he lived in Tafelsig‚ Mitchells Plain.”
A 49-year-old man was then arrested. It was later discovered that the man was HIV positive.
Dayson said that the girl has been taken to hospital and will remain there until further notice.
