Kamaiyah is all smiles and primary colors in her new video for “ Build You Up .” The video has the Oakland rapper having a ball in her hometown while surrounded by nothing but positive energy. The Damiën Sandoval -directed visual harkens back to ‘90s rap visuals like Queen Latifah ‘s “U.N.I.T.Y. ” ,Directed by Damiën Sandoval, YaYa is all smiles and shows love in the fun-filled VEVO premiere. The vibrant visual gives off a 90s throwback feel, as Kamaiyah shows off her stylish outfits and slick dance moves moving around her city of Oakland.
Kamaiyah dropped one of the best projects of 2016 with A Good Night in the Ghetto. That project helped her sign a deal with Interscope, and now she’s back with “Build You Up ,” the first song off her upcoming project Don’t Ever Get It Twisted, dropping later this year,The song , produced by Drew Banga , Trackademicks and 1-O.A.K ., sounds like some straight up new jack swing , and the message of the song is more positive than anything else we’ve heard in a long time .
