Former Arsenal defender, Johan Djourou wanted by Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday want to tie up a surprise deal for former Arsenal defender Johan Djourou before Saturday’s season opener at Preston.
The Owls are desperate for defensive reinforcements having deployed left-back Daniel Pudil at centre-half for the majority of pre-season.
Djourou, 30, played 140 times for the Gunners in a near decade-long spell which included loan moves to Birmingham, Hannover and Hamburg.
The 67-cap Swiss international then switched to Hamburg on a permanent basis where he has spent the last years.
He is now a free agent following the expiry of his contract with the Bundesliga side this summer.
