After lending his midas touch to the franchise’ s first two installments (the second of which produced a song you might have heard called “Happy”), it should come as no surprise that Pharrell has scored the soundtrack to Despicable Me 3. Before the movie and accompanying album arrive later this month, here’s the project’ s lead single : an uplifting, robotic -tinged tune called “Yellow Light, ” produced and performed by Skateboard P .
When Pharrell released “Happy ” for the Despicable movie soundtrack in 2013 , the song not only topped charts around the world but would ultimately reinvigorate the course of Pharrell’s solo career . Now with the third installment of the Despicable Me movie series set to release on June 20, Pharrell will be leading the music efforts for the film with multiple song contributions to the soundtrack. Today, Skateboard P shares the first single from the project called “Yellow Light ”.
