In yesterday’s interview with Zane Lowe, Lil Yachty made a key distinction between the dual nature of his personality. There was Lil Yachty, the loveable, emotional teenager, and Lil Boat, the one who knocks, the one who goes hard, the “rapper.” Teenage Emotions seems to go heavy on the Yachty, but Boat does slide in from time to time, primarily on the album’s opening quarter.
“Dirty Mouth” lives up to its name, with Boat getting crude as yell, as teenagers are sometimes known to do. While his flow isn’t always refined, there’s an impressive level of raw energy and wit in these bars, and Yachty makes sure we’ll never look at Kirby in the same way again.
