Wenger Demands Good Football From Mourinho

As Arsenal prepare to take on Manchester United in an early kick off on Saturday, the Gunners manager has suggested to his major rival, Jose Mourinho to let the game flow.

The Frenchman locks horns with his nemesis, who he is yet to beat in a Premier League encounter, for the first time since Mourinho took over at Old Trafford in the summer.

Wenger was keen to play down the significance of his rivalry with Mourinho on Thursday, but couldn’t help but take a swipe at the United manager when asked about the quality of the Premier League’s flagship games so far this season.

‘We have seen a few games since the start of the season where we didn’t respond completely to the expectation level between two big teams, and I think it’s important that it’s a top level game because that will be watched all over the world,’ he said.

‘For the reputation of the Premier League, it’s important that the quality of the game is good. That will be down to the players who are on the pitch.’

When asked if he would shake his rival’s hand before the game, the Arsenal boss added: “Of course. I respect the ritual that is so important in the Premier League.”

“Look, I don’t think I have to describe our relationship. He will fight for his team and I will fight for my team and I think that’s completely normal,” Wenger said.
