Senate President Bukola Saraki Backs Buhari’s S/Court Justices Nominees

​Senate President, Bukola Saraki has said that the nomination of two new justices by President Muhammadu Buhari is in order.

Saraki who made the statement on Tuesday also said that the nomination was to replace Justice Galadima from North Central & CJN from North East both who turned 70 this year.

“Nomination by @ NGRPresident is in order. It’s to replace Justice Galadima from North Central & CJN from North East both turn 70 this year.”

Note that President Muhammadu Buhari had, during the Senate’s Tuesday session, forwarded the names of the two justices, Paul Jauro from Taraba State, North East and Sidi Bage from Nasarawa State, North Central for confirmation and appointment.

In the letter, the President had equally said that the nomination was in line with Section 231(2) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Justice Bage was born on June 22, 1956, became Federal High Court Judge in 1992 before his appointment as Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2000.

Born in 1954, Jauro became a judge of the High Court in 1998 and was appointed Justice of the Court Appeal in 2008. The two Judges had been recommended for appointment as Justices of the Supreme Court by the National Judicial Council.
