So Touching: Alleged Militants Rescue Drowning Soldier in Niger Delta (Photos)
Reports making rounds on Twitter as propagated by a resident reveals a drowning soldier was rescued by his supposed enemies.
The ongoing ‘Operation Crocodile Smile’ exercise aimed at sanitizing the Niger Delta region which has been blighted with militancy and other criminal activities has suffered setbacks with soldiers drowning over lack of ‘amphibious’ skills to survive in the riverine area.

A Twitter user, Alabo Roland who goes by the handle, @Roland_speaks purported that some militants extended helping hands to dying soldiers who almost drowned in water.
He captioned the photo ‘ ‘A soldier being rescued from drowning by same people he was asked to come and kill in the Niger delta region.”
It would be noted that the military exercise in the South-south region has been heavily criticized by residents who deemed it as an affront on the indigenes despite the sincerity of the militant groups who have invariably seized hostilities in the oil-rich region.
