Manchester City will be playing German side Borussia Monchengladbach at home in their opening game of the Champions League group stage.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been off a perfect start, they on a 6 game winning streak in all competitions this season. Furthermore, they did well to defeat their core rival Manchester United on the road on Saturday. The derby win gave both the team and manager bragging rights over Manchester United and Jose Mourinho. City went 2-0 up via K. De Bruyne and K. Iheanacho’s goal in the 15th and 36th minute respectively, later in 42nd minute Zlatan Ibrahimovic pulled one back for United as the game ended 1-2. Guardiola’s men will hope to maintain their 100% record against Monchengladbach. Meanwhile, Borussia Monchengladbach’s winning streak was halted on Saturday, they lost 3-1 away to Freiburg. T. Hazard put them in the lead in the 35th minute of the first half, they held the lead till halftime. Freiburg came strong in the second half, Phillip’s Brace upturned the score and later Peterson’s goal in 88 minutes sealed the victory for Freiburg. Monchengladbach will hope to get back to winning ways when they face Manchester City.

The two other teams in the Group C of 2016 UEFA Champions League are FC Barcelona and Celtic FC from Scotland.

Man. City VS B. Moenchen

The two teams met in Champions League group stage last season, City won both legs of the game. They defeated B. Monchengladbach 4-2 at home in the first leg, City also won 2-1 at Germany in the second leg.

Guardiola’s reign at Etihad have started yielding dividends, they have won 6 of their games in all competitions. They have scored at least 2 goals in 5 of their last 6 games, and have scored a total of 17 goals this season. They don’t have a rosy defense, they kept just 2 clean sheets in their last 6 games in all competitions.

Monchengladbach are not bad in form, they have won 5 of their last 6 games, they have also scored at least 2 goals in 4 of their last 6 games. However, they have conceded at least a goal in 5 of their last 6 games in all competitions.

Pep’s side will most likely win at Etihad stadium, but I expect both teams to appear on score sheet.
