#Recession: APC Uses “Akara” Instead Of Rice In Gubernatorial Campaign in Edo

The rice strategy of campaign efficiently used by Governor Ayodele Fayose to gain support of the people of Ekiti in the 2014 governorship election and later widely adopted in Nigeria seems to have faded away with a viable replacement.

A social media user based in Edo State has shared a hilarious campaign banner of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Edo State which promises free Akara (bean cake) to the electorate to curry favour ahead of the governorship election slated for the 28th of September, 2016.

This has become an object of mockery and political brickbats on social media between APC and People’s Democratic Party supporters.

A hilarious commenter on social media has this to say:

It seems (obviously) that recession has hit APC campaign in Edo state as they now share Akara for bini people instead of the usual rice.

Suffer no good o, we implore the President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency end the recession in the land by seeking and implementing viable stimulus packages at least so that the people in his party will have something to brag about. Or he should just resign and save his face”
