Abia Governorship Crisis: Presidency Awaits AGF’s Advise

​The presidency would wait until it is furnished with the instrumentality of the law on the seeming political crisis in Abia State before it would eventually take a position.


It will be recalled that Abia has been on the broil consequent upon a federal high court judgment sacking Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and conferring governorship status on Uche Ogah, a first runner up in the 2014 primary election of People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Basing its judgement on the irregularities found on the tax documents of the governor, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to issue Ogah with a Certificate of Return as the duly elected governor of the state in the 2015 governorship election in the State.

But a move mare by Ogah to be sworn in as governor of state last when the sitting governor has appealed the judgement caused a constitutional crisis.

But speaking with Vanguard, a source who craved anonymity said that the mater now rests with the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF to properly advised the government on the way forward.

The source hinted that the AGF who had been in Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj would be returning to the country on Monday.

“That matter rests with the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF. Wait until he comes back from lesser hajj”, the source said
