What Buhari Told Us About Herdsmen Killings – Anglican Church Primate
The Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh, the Primate, Church of Nigeria in the Anglican Communion, says the Church would partner the Federal Government in finding solutions to the challenges facing the country.
Okoh said this on Friday while answering questions from State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He said the church was disturbed by the reported clashes between farmers and herdsmen, vandalism of the country’s oil infrastructure and insecurity in parts of the country.
“We are all looking for solution to issues of the herdsmen; we are looking for solution on the issue of vandalism.
“We are looking for solution to the issue of security one way or the other because the people are asking us.
“And we want to have explanation for the people whom we lead, and among other things.
“He gave us detailed explanation of what he is doing to ensure that these things are solved.
“So, we have hope; we have a message for our people.’’
Okoh, who is also the Archbishop of Abuja province, expressed satisfaction with the efforts the President Buhari-led administration was making to overcome the problems.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Archbishop, who was accompanied by a group of Bishops, prayed for the progress and development of the country.
“We pray that this administration will succeed in all its projects, its programmes and plans to transform Nigeria to a better place.
“We have many detractors – some are hiding, some are known; some are not known – we pray that You change their minds.
“Those who busy themselves, scheming for evil, Lord change them.
“We pray that our children will know a better Nigeria.
“Thank you for all of us working in different sections to make the country better. ’’
