Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu pictured at the Federal High Court Abuja this morning where they are being arraigned for alleged forgery of senate orders. The presiding judge, Justice Yusuf Haliru, held that the essence of bail was to enable the accused persons to stand trial.
Haliru also stated that the accused persons had not been proved guilty, hence the need to release them on bail. The judge then held that before the bail can be granted, the defendants must have to provide two reasonable sureties who must be Nigerians and who must own property in Abuja, the failure of which they would be remanded in Kuje prison, Abuja. The judge adjourned to July 11 for trial.
