Enugu Massacre: New CP Takes Over After Fulani Herdsmen Attack
The newly posted Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ojukwu,has assumed duty in his office at the State Police Headquarters,Enugu. Ojukwu who until now, was the Commissioner of Police incharge of Eastern Port Command Port-Harcourt,Rivers State,relieved CP Nwodibo Ekechukwu who was redeployed to Eastern Port Command.
Nwodibo was booted out of office following his perceived inaction on April 25,when over 500 Fulani Herdsmen invaded Ukpabi,Nimbo in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, slaughtering 46 natives despite intelligence report at his disposal indicating that the herdsmen would invade the community.
CP Ojukwu in a statement made available to Vanguard,ā promised to partner with all relevant stakeholders as well as the good people of Enugu State,sister security agencies and the media for effective crime prevention and control in the stateā.
It could be recalled that CP Emmanuel C.S Ojukwu has served the force in various capacities which include; Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Force Public Relations Department , Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department Imo State command,Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigations Department Zone 7 police Head-quarters,Abuja from where he became the commissioner of police in charge of Force Public Relations Department Force Headquarters Abuja and thereafter became the Commissioner of Police in charge of Kogi State.
ASSURANCE ON SAFETY
Ojukwu has assured communities in the state of the commands readiness to enhance safety and security. This assurance was made known at Nimbo and Adani communities in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of the State when he and his team visited both communities with a view to finding out the state of security and safety in those communities.
At Nimbo,the CP and his team of officers which included detectives from Force Criminal Investigations Department Abuja,visited the scene where it was discovered that following renewed security in the area Life and activities have gradually returned to the area.
The Police boss also had interactive sections with the residents of Nimbo at the market square where he informed them of the presence of the Inspector General of Police investigative team into the incident.

Area Commander,ACP,Monday Kuryas, who was part of the emergency security council meeting summoned by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State where they gave him assurances that security men were on ground to ward-off the impending attacks which later claimed the lives of native.
