WASSCE 2016 Likely To Be Cancelled As Three Papers Leak

Published

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) are in the crosshairs again, after three subjects out of this year’s West African Secondary School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) papers were leaked to students mainly in the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions.
The Oral English, Integrated Science and Social Studies papers were leaked to students by a ‘source’ between midnight and 4am of each day that the paper was supposed to be written
A whatsapp group was formed where the ‘apor’ was dropped for the students. Pictures circulating on social media showed some students with answers written on their thighs to be transported into the exam hall.
WAEC has been dogged by such incidents of leaked questions year after year, and seem unable or unwilling to do anything to stem the tide. Last year, five Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) subjects had to be cancelled due to a similar leakage incident.
It is likely these three papers would be cancelled by the Council as well.
