Gowon Finally Accepts 48-Year-Old Son After DNA Confirmation

The former Nigeria head of state, General Yakubu Gowon has finally accepted Musa Gowon as his son shortly after a DNA test conclusively conformed their relationship.
Vanguard reports that the former head of state in a statement issued on March 9 owned up to having a love child with the late Princess Edith Ike Okongwu.

Gowon acknowledged that he was the Father of Musa who just returned to Nigeria in 2015 after spending 34 years in a United States prison.
Gowon and Okongwu were friends in the 60s but there was a legal dispute concerning the paternity of Musa which dragged all the way to the Supreme Court in which the socialite won.
Before the judgment could be executed however, Musa was apprehended by the United States law enforcement officials in Dallas on the charge of importing heroin and was sentenced to 27 years in prison. He pursued graduate school while in prison and was released in November 2015 due to his good behavior.
On his return to Nigeria, a DNA test was conducted to conform his relationship with Gowon and after the positive result, the former head of state finally agreed Musa was his son but asked for privacy.
“Following years of doubts and speculation, a DNA test was recently conducted to ascertain the paternity of Musa Gowon, who recently returned to the country.
