Christian Benteke gave Liverpool a controversial three points on Sunday, tucking home a last second penalty after a contentious decision from the referee.

The Reds found themselves a goal and a man down before Roberto Firmino tied things up in the second half. However, the pivotal moment came when Benteke went down in the box, forcing the referee to point to the spot.

The visitors looked doomed to another defeat to Palace when Joe Ledley fired the hosts into the lead early in the second half, pouncing on some defensive uncertainty in the Liverpool box caused by a Yohan Cabaye corner and bundling it in.
Disaster struck for Liverpool shortly afterwards when Milner was shown a red card with his second booking of the game as he slid into the back of Wilfried Zaha.

However, Firmino was on hand to tie things up as goalkeeper Alex McCarthy slipped as he tried to clear it, allowing the Reds attacker to tuck it into the net.

As the game looked set to end a draw, the referee awarded the penalty at the very end of injury time, allowing Benteke to fire home the winner.
