The former Manchester United winger was offered €10m-a-year to sign for an unnamed club but is committed to the Turkish league leaders, according to their president Aziz Yildirim
A mystery Chinese club were prepared to pay a staggering €25 million to Fenerbahce for Nani, according to the Turkish side’s chairman Aziz Yildirim.
The former Manchester United winger joined Fenerbahce in the summer and has rediscovered some of his best form, scoring six goals and setting up four to help Vitor Pereira’s side to the top of the Super Lig table.
Chinese clubs have spent heavily during the transfer window with Gervinho, Ramires and Fredy Guarin moving from heavyweight European sides to Jiangsu Suning, Hebei Fortune and Shanghai Shenuha, respectively.
Nani, 29, has also been the subject of significant interest from an unnamed side but Fenerbahce are unwilling to sell, even though they would stand to make a quick-fire profit on a player who cost just €6m (£4.5m).
“We’ve received an offer initially €17m for Nani from a Chinese club,” confirmed Yildirim. “On Friday they raised their offer to €20m.
“If we were disposed to sell Nani, they would offer €25m. But we rejected this and told our player that we don’t want to sell him.
“The club offered Nani €10m per year but he also didn’t want to leave and told us ‘I want to win the league title here. If I want to leave we talk again at the end of season’. I would like to thank him for his commitment.”
