Former CBN Governor Sanusi Lamido Implicated In N40bn Loot

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and now Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi allegedly paid over N40 billion to embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki during his tenure as governor of the apex bank.
The payments were made as ‘donations’ to assist the military in the fight against Boko Haram, sources familiar with the matter have revealed.
It is however unclear whether the funds were utilized to acquire hardware for the military by the former NSA. This is what investigators at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are trying to figure out.
A source familiar with the development further revealed that one of the ‘donations’ involved N20 billion in cash paid out a few weeks before Sanusi was ousted from office.
EFCC sources say investigators are uncertain over how to question the Emir over the payments as investigations into how billions were filtered away by the former NSA under the guise of purchasing arms for the military continues.
The EFCC is also expected to interview senior officials of the CBN over the ‘donations’.
