Super Eagles Qualify For CHAN 2016
The Super Eagles held Burkina Faso to a goalless draw in Ouagadougou on Sunday evening to reach Rwanda 2016 courtesy of a 2-0 aggregate score
Nigeria qualified for the 2016 African Nations Championship for home-based players after holding Burkina Faso to a goalless draw in Ouagadougou on Sunday evening.
The Super Eagles reached the finals of the competition for the the second time courtesy of a 2-0 aggregate score.
Despite the uncertainties of recent days which saw coach Sunday Oliseh flown abroad in urgent need of medical help, the Eagles fought hard and were helped by an early Burkinabe penalty miss to maintain the advantage they had from the first leg.
The recuperating coach was elated was one of the first people to tweet about the victorious qualification. “Praise God!,” he wrote.
Nigeria have now joined hosts Rwanda, Morocco, Tunisia, Mali, Guinea, Niger, Gabon, DR Congo, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Angola that have already qualified for the tournament.
The 2016 CHAN will take place from January 16 to February 7, 2016.
