Woman Sets Husband Ablaze, Burns Manhood
The Ekiti State Police Command on Monday paraded a woman, Mrs Bukola Ogidiolu, who allegedly set her husband, Abimbola Ogidiolu, on fire, burning her man’s manhood in the process.
It also paraded a 30-year-old man, Mr. Moses Ofega, for allegedly killing a Fulani herdsman.
The alleged murder was committed at Iyemero Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area of the state last Wednesday.
Trouble started for Ogidiolu, a commercial driver and an indigene of Ado Ekiti, who lives in the Idolofin area of Ado Ekiti, when he left home on February 14 to have fun, without his wife.
He was said to have returned home at about 6pm on the Valentine Day to meet his angry wife, who had been accusing him of infidelity.
Stating her own position, Mrs. Ogidiolu claimed her husband caught fire as a result of explosion from a keg of petrol kept inside the house.
“We had disagreement over his nonchalant attitude to my barrenness that day and we were fighting. Our neighbours tried to plead with him but he never listened to them.
“He later ran inside and destroyed all my property. But he had forgotten that we have petrol inside and when he was about lighting his cigarette, the keg that contains the petrol exploded and my husband caught fire immediately,” she said.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Albert Adeyemi, told journalists that members of the Fulani Community in the town reported the murder case, which led to the arrest of Ofega, who had fled into the bush.
He revealed that the suspect allegedly killed the herdsman in the bush and poured charcoal on him and set him ablaze in an attempt to cover his track.
When interviewed by journalists, Ofega said, “I didn’t kill him intentionally. I went to the farm that day because I am a hunter. When I saw that my farm had been destroyed, I had to challenge him and in the course of wrestling with him, my gun fired and hit him.”
