Balarabe Musa Lambasts Jonathan, Buhari
The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, has described the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) as a fascist, intolerant and an arrogant self-righteous politician.
He also described President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party as having “a track record of undeniable and monumental ineptitude, corrupt administration and political visionlessness.”
Musa said this in his address at a special/extraordinary meeting of the National Executive Committee of the PRP in Uyo, on Saturday, where, after a comparative advantage of what the PRP would gain, decided to ally with the PDP for the March 28, 2015 presidential election.
In his address, titled, “Making a difficult but necessary and patriotic choice,” the PRP leader, stated that the party had to identify and articulate possible course that will be of the party’s best interest.
“In the coming electoral contest, what should be uppermost for the party is its continued existence as a legally recognised political entity, free like any other party to engage in the liberal democratic quest for power which the Nigerian constitution allows.
“Of course, it is obvious that none of the present candidates or their political party platforms share the ideals or the objectives of the PRP.
“The question then we should ponder on is, ‘Which of the candidates is less likely to constrict the democratic space in Nigeria in such a way as to allow the PRP to continue to exist and to operate legally without hindrance?,
“In other words, which of the candidates is going to be less intolerant of parties such as the PRP?” he asked.
According to Balarabe, the party would have supported a candidate sponsored by a coalition of parties, the Credible Alternative Alliance.
But he noted that the CAA had not been able to put forward a credible candidate that could be unanimously supported by members.
“The second option is to support the presidential candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, that is, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. In this respect, members will have to examine President Jonathan and the PDP’s track record of undeniable and monumental ineptitude, corrupt administration and political visionlessness against the context of what is in the national interest and the PRP’s interest in self-preservation.
“The third would be to support the candidate of the APC, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.). Here, members would have to weigh these facts: the APC is constituted by, at least, 70 per cent of defectors from the PDP, raising questions as to how much difference it is from the PDP.
“Buhari has a track record of human right abuses, a tendency towards fascist intolerance and an arrogant self-righteousness ethos; the APC (unlike the PDP) has arrogantly refused to make any overtures towards other political formations not linked with the PDP; the class composition and agenda of both the APC and the PDP are no different,” he said.
He appealed to the members that their choice should be based on national interest and patriotism and never for material consideration.
Also, the Deputy Coordinator, Jonathan/Sambo Presidential Campaign Organisation in Kaduna State, Hussaini Jallo, said there was no way Buhari could beat President Jonathan in the rescheduled elections.
