Mourinho Fined £25,000 By FA For 'Campaign' Comments
The Blues boss has been sanctioned for remarks he made about referees after Cesc Fabregas was booked for diving in a 1-1 draw with Southampton in December
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been fined £25,000 by the Football Association for bringing the game into disrepute.
The charge relates to comments he made following the Blues’ 1-1 draw with Southampton at St Mary’s on 28 December.
Mourinho was angered after Cesc Fabregas was booked for simulation leading the Chelsea boss to claim there was a ‘campaign’ against his side.
A statement on the FA’s website confirmed the fine, although the Blues boss has avoided a touchline ban.
“The Independent Regulatory Commission found the comments were a breach of FA Rule E3 in that they were improper and brought the game into disrepute,” read the statement.
“The Commission did not, however, find that the comments implied bias on the part of a referee or referees.
“Mr Mourinho, who had requested a non-personal hearing, was also warned as to his future conduct.”
