Jonathan Campaigns In Borno, Vows To Crush Boko Haram

President Goodluck Jonathan, Saturday,  reassured the people of Borno state and the north east zone that his administration will do everything possible to end the activities of Boko Haram terrorists and restore peace in the country.
Jonathan was speaking during a  campaign rally held at the Ramat Square, Maiduguri.
He claimed he had fulfilled the promises he made to Nigerians during his 2011 campaigns and that if re-elected in February 14 general elections, more policies and programmes aimed at transforming the lives of the people through job creation, women and youth empowerment scheme and agricultural revolution will top his priority.
The President asked for a minute silence for departed souls in the Boko Haram insurgency.
He assured that government and security agencies are doing everything possible to ensure  the safe return of the 219 abducted Chibok school girls and restore normalcy in the state and  other affected communities in the north east.
He noted that the federal government will rebuild all the destroyed places of worship and schools destroyed by insurgents in the north east.
Jonathan who arrived Maiduguri International Airport at about 1:30PM amid tight security drove straight to the Shehu of Borno’s palace, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai El- Kanemi where he condoled with the monarch over the unfortunate incidents perpetrated by Boko Haram sect, and assured that very soon, peace will be restored in the state.
The president who also said he was at the palace to seek the blessing from the Shehu and to inform him that hr was in the state as part of his campaign tour for his reflection bid, promised that if re- elected, his administration will continue to support the traditional institutions who are custodian of cultural and socio- economic co- existence.
Responding, the Shehu of Borno thanked the President for the visit and the effort federal government is doing to nip in the problem of terrorism in the bud.
He therefore appealed to the President not to relent in the area of fighting terrorism which has claimed many lives and property worth billions of naira destroyed.
