Kidnappers' Den Discovered in Lagos
Lagos police reportedly shut the kidnappers’ den where the captors kept their victims until the ransom was paid.
The house used by the abductors was is located in Isheri Oshun area of Lagos State, P.M. News reports.
The locals narrated that the landlord of the house, who harboured the suspects, fled. Some of the suspects were arrested after a victim had been rescued.
The police raided the kidnappers’ den and released one Alhaji Fashola Hammed. Following which they locked the building.
It was learnt yesterday, December 1, that Kelvin Igah, his wife, Ogechi, and Kelvin’s younger brother, Victor, were arrested. Kelvin and Ogechi had 3 of their children living with them.
The suspects allegedly chained their victims in the toilet, taped their mouths thus nobody was aware of the crime taking place in the building.
The suspects, paraded last week by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Aderanti, confessed to the crime disclosing their role in the gang was taking care of the victims until the ransom was paid.
According to Kelvin it was there his gang kept two oil magnates, Chief Idowu Coker and Alhaji Fashola Hammed.
While Coker later paid N20 million and promised to pay N10 million more, Hammed was still chained in the toilet when the operatives arrived, and the abductors demanded N50 million.
Unfortunately, kidnapping is a widespread crime in Nigeria. In one of the recent stories related to this offence a traumatized woman, who escaped from the captors, narrated how the criminals treated her in the den and even threatened to kill her.See photo of building where they hide their victims below…
