We Will Beat Nigeria On Their Soil —South Africa Coach, Mashaba
Bafana Bafana head coach Shakes Mashaba and captain Dean Furman have expressed their desire to cap off their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a memorable win in Nigeria.
Having already qualified for next year’s finals in Equatorial Guinea, South Africa will be forgiven for taking things easy against the Super Eagles, but Mashaba and Furman explained that will not be the case.
South Africa will top Group A no matter the result in Uyo, but for Nigeria the game is vital as they need a win to ensure automatic qualification for the continental showpiece.
Having missed an opportunity to beat Nigeria in the reverse fixture in Cape Town, South Africa now set their sights on beating the West Africans in Nigeria for the first time.
“We go to Nigeria now, we want to work hard and maintain our undefeated record and hopefully we can go there and get the win,” Furman said following South Africa’s 2-1 win over Sudan.
Bafana Bafana have yet to lose in their qualifying campaign, and have registered two wins on the road, scoring a total of five goals in wins in Pointe-Noire and Omdurman.
Mashaba added: “We still have one game to play, we are going to play in Nigeria and I know people are going to say it will just be a walkover, no we are still going to play our best team, its more than three points when we go to Nigeria, it’s a lot of things that we are going to be playing for, it’s going to be a tough game.”
I think he should go and ask Congo’s coach what happened to him after boasting .
The super Eagles will will face the Bafana Bafana tomorrow , 19th November at the new Morden stadium just opened in Akwa Ibom
