The Ballon d’Or winner is open to moving back to Old Trafford before he retires but his Real Madrid team-mate is desperate to see him stay at the Santiago Bernabeu
Gareth Bale has urged Cristiano Ronaldo to reject a return to Manchester United and remain at Real Madrid.
The Ballon d’Or winner left Old Trafford in 2009 and has thrived at the Santiago Bernabeu, scoring a remarkable 269 goals in just 257 appearances in all competitions for the Spanish giants.
United goalkeeper David de Gea exclusively told Goal he wants Ronaldo to move back to Old Trafford following the Portuguese’s hint of a future switch, but Real Madrid have said the move will not happen.
“He’s obviously a player we wouldn’t want to see leave,” Bale told reporters on Wednesday. “Of course I want to see him stay at Real Madrid.
“He’s shown what a world-class player he is year after year scoring the goals he has.”
Bale struck up a prolific partnership with Ronaldo after joining last summer – netting 22 times and assisting a further 16 – which culminated in the pair both scoring as Real Madrid won the Champions League final.
However, hs form has been the subject of much debate this term with a recent Marca poll suggesting that 60 per cent of Real Madrid fans want the £86 million winger dropped.
When asked if the reported fan unrest could prompt him to consider his future at Madrid, he replied: “I signed a six-year deal last year. so I don’t really think so.”
