Boko Haram Takes Over Key Town In Adamawa State
Latest update on Boko Haram moves provides that the militants have taken over the key town of Michika, Adamawa State.
Nigerian military jet was flying over the area without attacking the insurgents, said Sahara Reporters with reference to the evidence given by the fleeing locals.
Military have reportedly directed troops to Mararaba Mubi not to allow Boko Haram fighters to seize Mubi. Soldiers of the 23 Brigade in Yola are allegedly on the alert, ready to fight for Mubi.
Earlier today we reported that the residents of Michika, so as several other towns and villages, started fleeing their homes after Boko Haram had repelled military to recapture Madagali.
Bello Alaramma, a refugee from Gulak to Mubi said:
“All the residents of Madagali, Gulak and Michika have fled their homes to the mountains and Mubi town after soldiers retreated from Madagali where they made a failed attempt to push out the insurgents and the recapture the town.”
All this adds to the Nigerians’ fears over further advancement of the insurgents and claiming of more territories as part of caliphate.
The first town claimed by the sect leader Abubakar Shekau was Gwoza, previously captured by the militants. Shortly the news broke out that Boko Haram militants captured the strategic town of Bama and several other towns in different states.
While military claim they are determined to end Boko Haram, it is believed that the sect will soon make a move to capture Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State
