Boko Haram Attack And Takes Over Banki Town Near Border

Boko Haram have continued their recent strategy of capturing towns in troubled state, Borno state.
BBC are reporting that the gunmen have taken the town of Banki which borders Cameroon and are now hoisting their flags and claiming it as part of their nation.
Residents in Banki also told told reporters that Army men who where formerly protecting the town packed up and fled as the Insurgents attacked.
This is another blow to the Nigerian military as towns keep on falling to the hands of the insurgents, with reports surfacing that Army men are fleeing from fighting the Insurgents.
The Nigerian military is yet to confirm this recent developement , with fears being raised that Boko Haram is about attack Maiduguri, the capital of north-eastern Borno state.
Boko Haram leader, Shekau had last month declared an Islamic caliphate in areas under the group’s control, this had forced the Nigeria Security Network (NSN) to say: Unless swift action is taken, Nigeria could be facing a rapid takeover of a large area of its territory reminiscent of Isis’s lightning advances in Iraq,”
“If Maiduguri falls, it will be a symbolic and strategic victory unparalleled so far in the conflict,” it said.
Earlier this week, Boko Haram had attacked and governed biggest town in Borno after Maiduguri, Bama  for some hours before Army reinforcement forced them away.
