Two People Down With Ebola Symptoms In Lagos – Lagos State Government

The Lagos State Government has yesterday revealed that two people who contacted Mr Patrick Sawyer show symptoms of fever.
Lagos commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, made this revelation when he talked with the media, he said that the two were among the 70 people being closely monitored by the Lagos state government.
The commissioner called for calm and said that both people were in quarantine and said they did not test positive to the virus.
Idris said: “Our Rapid Response Team is currently tracking all contacts of persons exposed to the dead passenger with Ebola virus.
“The contract tracing team is following 70 contacts of the EVD case and linking them to clinical support when needed. Two suspect cases had fever, they are under observation and so far have tested negative to the virus.
“The monitoring of suspect cases will continue until the end of them period of 21 days from their exposure to the victim,’’ he said.
He also continued and said that and emergency operation centre has been set up in the state in effort to check any potential spread of the virus.
The commissioner also said that the government was still investigating if Mr Patrick Sawyer actually died from Ebola and urged the citizens to report any suspected case.
Nigeria has been in a constant state of panic since Liberian, Mr Patrick Sawyer, flew into the country with Ebola symptoms and died later at a Lagos hospital.
Since then the Lagos state government has quarantined over 70 people who had contacts with the victim or his corpse.
