Adidas Terminates Deal With NFF
These are certainly not the best of times for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), following the decision of global sports merchandise giant Adidas to terminate its kit sponsorship deal with NFF.
Disclosing this information, which will cost Nigeria millions of dollars in revenue lost, Adidas in a statement jointly signed by its Vice-President, Global Sports Marketing Football, Claus Peter Mayer and Marketing Manager, Federation and Leagues, Kai-Philip Stef, said it was not going to extend its contract with the NFF, when the current deal runs out on December 31, 2014.
“Ädidas has conducted an analysis of its football partnership and the related business with the Nigeria Football Federation. Based on this evaluation and in combination with the recent correspondence between the parties, we regret to inform you that Adidas has decided not to extend its current partnership with the NFF as per the end of Agreement on 31 December, 2014.
“Ädidas will continue to fulfill its obligations under the Agreement as previously.
