Kidnappers Caught Red Handed While Collecting Ransom In Ebonyi State For Children Kidnapped In Ogun State
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two men accused of kidnapping two kids, Tolulope (9), and Omodolapo Kosoko (7).
The police said the prime suspect, Kingson Sunday (27), was a friend to the kidnapped children’s family and helped in taking them to and bringing them back from their school, Imperial International School, Molipa, Ijebu Ode.
After kidnapping them, he took the children to Ebonyi State where their names were changed to Bishop (Tolulope) and Turey (Omodolapo).
The Ogun police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, said Mr. Sunday, a teacher, had demanded ₦500, 000 as ransom. Mr. Sunday, however, sent the account details of the second suspect, August Johnson (47), a teacher residing at Ohaozara in Ebonyi, to the victims’ parents.
The police credited the account with ₦150,000 and pencilled down the account in the bank. PREMIUM TIMES gathered that the suspects were nabbed when they attempted to withdraw the money from the account. The police were alerted by informants monitoring the account in Ebonyi State.
The children have now been reunited with their parents.
Mr. Adejobi also stated that the Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, commended the police detectives for a great job and asked the public to always keep their kids in the hands of trusted persons who are of great repute in the community
.
Mr. Okoye also assured of the police’s commitment to always provide adequate protection for lives and property in Ogun State.
