Oboabona returns to training ahead of Nigeria vs Argentina match
Super Eagles defender, Godfrey Oboabona, returned to training camp on Monday after he limped off the team’s first Group match against Iran at the ongoing FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.
Oboabona had missed the Super Eagles second Group match against Bosnia-Herzegovina due to the injury he sustained in the opening group match.
A statement issued from the Super Eagles camp by Ben Alaiya, the team’s Media Officer, said team medics had given him a clean bill of health.
The statement said the team started training for Wednesday’s group decider against former world champions, Argentina, immediately it settled down in Porto Alegre.
The team had left Campinas to Porto Alegre in company of NFA Vice Chairman, Mike Umeh and House of Reps members led by the Vice Chairman, House Committee on Sports, Alhaja Ayo Omidiran.
Meanwhile, the Captain of the team, Joseph Yobo, was quoted as saying he preferred a win on Wednesday to his much advertised attainment of 100 caps if featured in the match against Argentina.
“It is good news that I will reach that milestone, but what is uppermost in my mind is for the team to win and for us to advance to the next stage.
“The rest will be a bonus”, Yobo was quoted as saying.
