Medical Student Calls Off Her Virginity Auction

A medical student who several months ago roused the public with the intentions to sell her virginity has now cancelled the controversial auction.

Initially Hanna Kern, who hid her identity under the pseudonym Elizabeth Raine, planned to auction her virginity to the highest online bid hoping to get USD400,000 (about N66million) from the agreement. But when one bid hit USD801,000 the girl has decided to concentrate on her education and stop this “kerfuffle”.
Earlier the young girl claimed that she was not going to give up her idea because of the diverging beliefs of others; eventually under the pressure of public she surrendered. On her blog she admitted that the terms of the auction would not be fulfilled as she wanted to focus on her medical training.
Hanna stressed that she still possesses strong beliefs about virginity, prostitution, and a woman’s right to do whatever she likes with her life and body.
“At this point, I no longer care about the auction, at least not nearly enough. This was a very easy decision. School is my first priority as it has been for my entire life.”
Months ago Hanna was going to donate 35 per cent of the money raised to charity organizations that provide women’s education in developing countries. She also insisted that selling sex is an individual choice rather than being morally wrong.
