Three Enugu sanitation officials arrested by police over murder of 17-yr-old boy

The Enugu State Police command has arrested three
staff of the Enugu State Waste Management Authority,
ESWAMA ,who allegedly murdered a 17‑year‑old student, Chidiebere Ede for using unapproved waste bag to dispose refuse at Trans‑Ekulu area of Enugu, Monday.
The state Police spokesman, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who disclosed this, yesterday, identified the suspects as Ferdinand Nwoye, Leader of the ESWAMA team that operated on April 8, 2014 at the affected
dump site, Chuka Egbosimba and the driver of the bus used by the team, Afam Agu.
He said the three persons were being quizzed by the operatives of the Homicide Section of the State Criminal and Investigations Department of the command with a view to ascertaining their level of
involvement in murder of the student.
He said: “Two other members of the team are still at large and manhunt for them has been intensified. The arrested persons are now helping the operatives in their investigations.”
Meanwhile, the International Solidarity for Peace and Human Rights Initiative, a non‑governmental organisation based in Enugu, has condemned the murder, demanding thorough investigation of the
incident as well as prosecution of those behind the act.
