10 persons escape death, as two-storey building collapse in Lagos
No fewer than 10 persons escaped death after a two-storey building under construction at 11 Sand Beach lanes off Alonge Street, Oworonshoki, Kosofe Local Government, collapsed at the early hours of Thursday.
It was gathered that the workers were busy on the construction when the building caved-in on them at about 11:00 am, leaving 10 construction workers trapped under the rubbles.
Among the trapped were four children, who work as assistance to the construction workers. Three of the teenagers were identified as:
Monday Ahungbe 12-years-old, Jimoh Adebi; 13-year-old and Moses Atoketi; 15-year-old.
It was learnt that though they cheated death but suffered various degree of injury.
Sources said that the deafening sound and dust which enveloped the community after the collapse caused pandemonium in the area; because they didn’t know the cause.
Mr. Adetayo Olawale, a resident of the community said that the building collapsed at about 11:00 pm while construction works were still ongoing which led to pandemonium, as everyone scampered for safety.”
