ZTE seal deal to modernise Nigeria rail way system
ZTE has signed a contract to provide
advanced communications systems under the
ongoing modernisation of the Nigerian
railway.
The Chinese telecoms equipment, network
solutions and mobile devices provider will
work with the project contractor, China Civil
Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC)
to provide advanced communications systems
to speed up the modernization of the Nigerian
railway system, according to a statement.
It should be noted that CCECC was awarded a
contract to build a double-track standard-
gauge railway from Lagos to Kano. The total
length of this railway is 1,315 kilometers. This
will be the first standard railway constructed
by a Chinese company in Nigeria, and will be
the first modern railway in Nigeria.
ZTE is expected to provide reliable and
efficient information and communications
system equipment and debugging and
commissioning services, thus, ensuring the
smooth operation of the modern railway.
The communication systems include the
transmission system, telephone system,
wireless communications system, scheduling
and optical communication column system,
power supply system and communication
instruments. Information systems include the
passenger guidance system, public address
system, clock system and power supply
devices.
