A video making the rounds online has captured the emotional moment Nigerian athlete Favour Ofili broke down into tears after finishing 6th in women’s 200 meters final at the Olympic games, hosted in Paris.



Ofili, who is 21 years old, was qualified for the women’s 200-meter final after coming first in the heats and second in the quarterfinal behind Julien Alfred. During the qualifiers on August 5, Ofili impressed with a season-best time of 22.05 seconds, placing second and raising hopes for a podium finish.

However, she lost to the USA’s Gabby Thomas in the final after clocking 22.24 seconds, ending her hopes of winning an Olympic medal. Gabrielle Thomas from USA won gold with a remarkable 21.83 seconds, Julien Alfred from Saint Lucia won silver, while Brittany Brown from USA won bronze.

Favour Ofili could not hold her emotions as she broke down into tears after coming 6th in the women’s 200m final.

In the video shared online, she can be seen crying profusely, uttering, ‘I am so tired’, as her close friends sympathized with her.

Nobody was there to contest it for her, she really struggled and put in her best.
