“Youths are using expensive phones and lodging in big hotels, but their mothers are selling akara and their fathers are suffering” – Portable Lament

Habeeb Okikiola, the singer popularly known as Portable, has claimed that the lavish lifestyles of internet fraudsters aka Yahoo Boys, is the main reason the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is cracking down on them.

Portable called out youth in their country for neglecting their parents in poverty while they live luxurious lifestyles by using expensive phones and lodging in hotel.

The artiste who sent a message in a video posted on Instagram, however, urged the anti-graft agency to properly investigate before making arrests, stressing that not everyone living such life is into internet fraud.

He said; 

“Why won’t EFCC arrest the youths when they are doing Yahoo, using iPhone 15 and lodging in hotels, but their mothers are selling akara [bean cake] and their fathers are suffering.”
