Osun nursing mother shot while bathing succumbs to her injuries
A nursing mother has died after she was shot while taking a bath.
The deceased, identified as Adijat, was reportedly shot by unknown assailants in her bathroom on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at about 10pm.
The incident occurred at Oke-Akute area of Iba in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State.
Adijat, a Fulani by tribe, who was nursing a three-month-old baby before her death, was rushed to a private hospital in Iree, where she had been on admission since Tuesday.
Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries on Thursday, Sept. 21.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Osun command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kehinde Adeleke said: “The killers are yet to be identified but efforts are ongoing to apprehend those behind the incident with a view to bringing them to justice.”
A resident of the community pleaded with the security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the suspects to alleviate the fear of residents over such incidents. He added that a similar incident had occurred in the community about two years ago and residents are still living in fear.
