At least 10 persons have reportedly been killed after armed herdsmen invaded Ussa Local Government Council of Taraba State.

This is according to the Caretaker Committee chairmen of Ussa LGA, Abershi Musa.

The killing, which, according to him, occurred in Kwesati village of the council in the early hours of Monday, was said to have been perpetrated by suspected herdsmen, whom he said invaded the community in their numbers.

Musa in an interview with DAILY POST, expressed sadness over the renewed attacks by armed herdsmen.

Vowing to tread extra legitimate miles to assist both the state government and the security agencies to track down the perpetrators, the state governor, as made known by him, has ordered the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators.

Wondering why the suspected herdsmen have continued to give the people of the council sleepless nights, the government, he assured, will not allow criminal elements to take laws into their hands by going about killing innocent souls.

Sources told our correspondent that the attackers invaded the community in the early hours of today.

The attackers whom our sources claimed were shooting sporadically, were said to have as well set ablaze several houses.

When reached for further confirmation, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abdullahi Usman said the command had not been updated on the number of casualties.
