Gunmen set Imo court ablaze days after killing judge – More details below

Gunmen have burnt the Oguta High Court located in the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.


According to reports, the attackers arrived around 11.30 pm on Sunday, February 12, 2023, and attacked the facility, which is located inside the local government headquarters.

The attack comes less than a week after a judge of a magistrate court was killed during the court session.

It was learnt that the registry, appeal court record office, file room, secretary to the high court judge’s office, office of the high court bailiff, the chamber of the high court judge were affected.

The Sole Administrator of the Oguta LGA, Ofili Ijioma, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said that the arson had been reported to security agents.

He said that he had commenced discreet investigation to unravel those behind the incident.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Henry Okoye, said that he was yet to get full information on the incident.
