“There Is Nothing I Will Do With The IM Offered For My Husband’s Death, All I Want Is Justice” – Widow Lament

Taiwo Taofeek, the 29-year-old wife of the Late Hanofi Taofeek, a 35-year-old baker, who was hit by one Arinze Okafor, a drunk commercial bus driver while returning home on December 9, 2022 on lludun Street, in the Amukoko area of Lagos State has called for justice over the death of her husband in an exclusive interview with the Punch Newspapers.


The widow who went into coma as a result of the effect of the injury that she sustained after she was hit by the drunk driver noted that the families of the man that killed her husband and also made her to almost loose her life offered to pay her a million naira as compensation for the death of her husband.

During the interview, she noted that the money was given to her late husband’s younger brother to give her after she woke up from coma, however, she refused to collect the money from them because the money was even to be paid in instalments and they would be paying N200,000 each time.

While speaking about the about given to her she said, “There is nothing I will do with the 1M offered for my husband’s death, all want is justice.”

While further speaking about her husband’s death she said, “All through my recovery at the hospital, they never came to check on me. The hospital I was admitted was close to the police station where the drunk driver was detained, they paid him regular visits and fed him without bothering to check on my well-being. I was in a coma and they never stopped by. Even when it came to the N1m, they couldn’t tell me directly but had to go through my husband’s younger brother.”
